Chief of Department
Chief Merchant joined GVFD in 2004 and completed Emergency Medical Responder training early in his career. His certifications include Firefighter I and II, Fire Instructor, Fire Officer, and specialized wildland firefighting training. He progressed through Lieutenant, Assistant Chief, and Deputy Chief before becoming Chief. A life member of GVFD, he continues to emphasize training, leadership, and service to the next generation.
Deputy Chief
Deputy Chief Hebert joined GVFD in 2006 and earned Firefighter I and II certifications, Emergency Medical Responder certification, and specialized training in pump operation and rural water supply. He has served as Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Chief, and was promoted to Deputy Chief in 2025. As a Fire Instructor, he remains committed to developing and mentoring fellow firefighters.
